Origin of Acupuncture

Acupuncture, a fundamental aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine, originated in ancient China and gradually spread to neighboring countries, including India, before becoming a global practice. India's ancient civilization boasted a robust traditional medicine system known as Ayurveda, which encompassed herbal medicine, surgery, yoga, and 'Suchi Veda' treatment. Although Ayurveda gained popularity across ancient India and beyond, Suchi Veda, akin to pricking therapy, was one of its lesser-known components.

Historical records indicate the introduction of Chinese acupuncture to India in the 6th century. However, its use was not sustained until its revival in the mid-twentieth century by a Chinese-trained Indian physician in 1959. Presently, acupuncture is rapidly gaining traction throughout India, with some state governments formally recognizing its practice. Recently, the central government of India also granted state recognition to acupuncture as an independent therapeutic system within the country's healthcare framework.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient system of health care effective in treating many conditions. It’s based on an energetic model rather than the biochemical model of Western medicine.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works by inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body, stimulating natural healing processes and enhancing overall well-being. During the initial appointment, a thorough consultation determines individual health goals and symptoms, leading to a personalized treatment plan. Sessions typically last 30 minutes to an hour, with results varying based on the patient's condition and response. Factors like attitude, diet, and lifestyle influence treatment outcomes.
